What TermitePlan Is
TermitePlan is an independent resource that helps homeowners decide what to do about termites. Not “buy this product” — decide. Our goal is to help you understand your situation clearly enough to choose the right next step, whether that step is confirming what you found, comparing a treatment type, or calling a licensed professional.
TermitePlan is independently edited and maintained by a small publisher focused on practical homeowner decision guides.
We are not an exterminator, and we do not sell termite products. That independence is the whole point. Retailers naturally focus on products. Pest control companies naturally focus on services. TermitePlan is built to help you decide which path fits before you commit to either — and we are in a position to say something neither easily can: sometimes the right answer is to spend nothing yet, and sometimes the right answer is to stop and call a professional.
Why We Built It
Termites are stressful, and the information around them is often shaped by whoever is trying to sell something. Search “termite treatment” and you land in a mix of product ads, service ads, and thin “best of” lists that push a purchase before you even know what you are dealing with.
We wanted the opposite: a calm, practical place that helps you figure out your situation first, and only then points you toward products, professional help, or simply confirming what you have found. The centerpiece of the site is our decision guide, which routes real situations to sensible next steps instead of a one-size-fits-all recommendation.
How We Know What We Publish
We want to be honest about what we are and what we are not.
We are not entomologists, and we do not claim hands-on experience treating termites in the field. When a page compares products or treatment types, that comparison is built from verifiable public information, not from personal testing. Specifically, we work from:
- current manufacturer product labels and directions for use;
- EPA registration and registered active-ingredient information where relevant;
- manufacturer specifications and documented use restrictions;
- state and local rules, since some products are not registered or permitted everywhere;
- recognized guidance on termite biology and control from university extension and public-health sources;
- retailer information for availability and typical price ranges.
Where these sources disagree, the current product label and official regulatory information take priority over marketing claims. We explain this approach in full on our Methodology page.
What We Will Never Do
- We will not claim to have tested a product we have not tested.
- We will not provide pesticide mixing or dilution instructions that replace the label — always follow the current label.
- We will not push a product into a situation where DIY is the wrong call. When a situation is active, structural, hidden, or otherwise high-risk, we will tell you to get a licensed inspection, even though that earns us nothing.
- We will not let affiliate commissions decide our recommendations.
Safety First, Honestly
Termite treatment involves pesticides and the structural safety of your home. That is not a place for guesswork or for “just try this.” Throughout the site, we lean toward caution: confirm before you treat, follow the label, and bring in a professional when the stakes are high. We would rather point you to an inspection you did not strictly need than talk you into DIY on a problem that was over your head.
